Utilızing solar energy in buildıng the resilience of energy consumers in the Republıc of Moldova: development of the regulatory framework

In accordance with the long-term strategic visions, and based on cooperation with external partners, the Republic of Moldova follows a strategy of diversifying energy supply both by developing energy transport networks, especially by developing cross-border interconnection projects, and by consolidating and diversifying domestic sources of supply. The exploitation of renewable energy sources is an important pillar for ensuring the energy autonomy of the Republic of Moldova, having the potential to ensure significant benefits for the social-economic development of the country, including through possible synergy with measures in the field of sustainable development, the adoption of development models based on increasing the competitiveness of the economy and reducing the carbon footprint. Voluntarily, within the Energy Strategy 2030, the Republic of Moldova has set the objective of reaching the level of use of renewable energy sources at a level of 20% in the energy mix of 2020 and the 10% share of electricity production from renewable sources in total gross consumption. Within the framework of the Energy Community Treaty, the Republic of Moldova assumed the achievement of a level of 17% use of renewable sources in the energy mix in 2020. The article was developed within the framework of Subprogram 030101 „Strengthening the resilience, competitiveness, and sustainability of the economy of the Republic of Moldova in the context of the accession process to the European Union”, institutional funding.
