Treatment with mycophenolate mofetil as an adjuvant therapy post-rituximab does not improve treatment outcomes in pemphigus
Rituximab is an effective treatment for pemphigus; however, it is not known whether continuation of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) after treatment improves clinical outcomes. This study demonstrates that continuation of MMF with prednisolone is not associated with improved or prolonged treatment responses compared with prednisolone alone. Adjuvant treatment with MMF was, however, associated with a CD8 T-cell lymphopenia suggestive of an increased risk of infection.
