Comparative Analysis of MoM and SBR on Backscattering by Projectile and CAD Model Simplification Effect Analysis

The shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) method offers significant computational speed advantages over the method of moments (MoM); however, its accuracy has inherent limitations. To analyze the accuracy of SBR and the factors influencing it, we computed the backscattering of a rocket-like projectile using both the MoM and SBR methods and then compared their accuracies. We investigated the accuracy of SBR by modifying the original model to remove small features such as steps, simplifying the wing geometry to a wedge shape, and comparing the backscattering results of these simplified models with those of the original model. In particular, we compared the differences in the SBR analysis when compensating for the effects of wing diffraction.
