Challenges to masking satellite streaks in astronomical images
Abstract Bright satellite streaks present challenges for astronomy. No streak detection is prefect and the profile of the streak flux varies along the streak. Using Rubin Observatory’s LSST as an example, we undertake full simulations and outline the challenges and the impact on science.
