The Church and the LGBTQ Community: A Meeting Point of Scripture, Love, and Action

This social, ethical, and theological body of research examines the critical intersection between the Post-Modern Christian Church and the LGBTQ Community, utilizing demographic data and scientific research to inform a Biblically-humanistic model of engagement. Historically and presently committed to God's infallible Word, the Church currently sits at a cultural fulcrum where it must reconcile the Biblical blueprint of the male-female union with a Holy obligation to embody Agape Love. By integrating social science data—notably that 20% of Generation Z identifies as part of the LGBTQ Community and faces significantly higher risks of isolation and suicide—with the inclusion of data from the study of epigenetics, this analysis seeks to reveal compelling research that warrants a multifaceted view and approach to understanding and building relationships with those in and outside of the Church who affirm or identify as part of the LGBTQ Community. Rather than viewing individuals through the lens of Earthly division, this study leverages Scripture to argue that the Church must lead with love first as the "key of the heart," allowing the Truth of sanctification to be witnessed without compromising God's Word. Ultimately, the research concludes that by repositioning itself as a conduit of God's grace and prioritizing a compassionate, humanistic view of each individual, the Church fulfills its Great Commission, ensuring its purpose as priests for the Kingdom of Heaven.
