Study on thermal hydraulic characters of corrugated plate dryer based on DPM coupled ELFM method
To improve the structures and characteristics of the steam generator corrugated plate dryer and increase the steam-liquid separation efficiency, the discrete phase model (DPM) coupled with the Eulerian liquid film model (ELFM) is employed to calculate the flow field of a corrugated plate dryer, and the flow field characteristics of the double-hooked corrugated plate are analyzed. The motion of liquid droplets and the separation of liquid film in the corrugated plate are numerically simulated and investigated by the DPM coupled with the ELFM and combined with three critical values. The applicability of the model is verified by comparing the numerically calculated and experimental values in the cold-state. And the separation performance of other different types of corrugated plates is compared, which lays an important technical foundation for the selection and structural optimization of corrugated plates in engineering practice. • Using DPM coupled with ELFM to simulate flow fields and improve the three-dimensional numerical calculation method of corrugated plates • Proposing maximum liquid film thickness selection rules for corrugated plate steam-liquid separation • Proposing critical Weber number selection rules for corrugated plate steam-liquid separation • Proposing critical shear stress selection rules for corrugated plate steam-liquid separation • Providing a better reference for corrugated plate design and selection
