Employing Arylboronic Acids in Nickel-Catalyzed Enantioselective Suzuki-Type Cross-Couplings: Access to Chiral α-Aryl Phosphonates and α-Aryl Esters

Herein, we report a nickel-catalyzed asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of racemic α-halo phosphonates and α-halo esters with various readily available arylboronic acids. This reaction provides facile access to a broad range of chiral α-aryl phosphonates and α-aryl esters in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities under a redox-neutral manifold. The protocol exhibits remarkable substrate generality and functional group compatibility, establishing a versatile platform for constructing valuable chiral tertiary carbon centers.

Abstract

Herein, we report a nickel-catalyzed asymmetric Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling of racemic α-halo phosphonates and α-halo esters with various readily available arylboronic acids. This reaction provides facile access to a broad range of chiral α-aryl phosphonates and α-aryl esters in high yields with excellent enantioselectivities under a redox-neutral manifold. The protocol exhibits remarkable substrate generality and functional group compatibility, establishing a versatile platform for constructing valuable chiral tertiary carbon centers.
