Design and Implementation of a DVB-T2 Transmission System Using Software Defined Radio (SDR)

The project focused on the design and construction of a DVB-T2 transmission system using Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms. The project aims to explore the feasibility and performance of DVB-T2 broadcasting in a flexible and cost-effective manner. The system employs various modulation schemes, including QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM, and 256QAM, to evaluate their performance under different transmission conditions. The implementation leverages SDR platforms to generate and transmit DVB-T2 signals, allowing for real-time adjustments and optimizations. The results demonstrate the capability of SDR-based DVB-T2 systems to achieve high data rates and robust signal quality, making them suitable for modern digital television broadcasting applications. In terms of scientific data, the study reports on the performance of BER (bit error rate) across different modulation schemes and coding rates. For instance, using a 256QAM modulation with a 3/5 code rate, the system achieved a data rate of approximately 36.14 Mbps in an 8 MHz channel bandwidth. The results indicate that higher-order modulation schemes, such as 256QAM, offer increased data throughput, albeit at the cost of reduced robustness to noise and interference. The implementation also includes the use of GNU Radio, an open-source toolkit, to facilitate the development and testing of the DVB-T2 transmission system. This approach underscores the potential of SDR in prototyping and deploying advanced broadcasting systems. Overall, the study emphasizes the efficiency of SDR platforms in developing DVB-T2 transmission systems, which offer a versatile and scalable option for digital television broadcasting. The findings contribute to the ongoing research and development efforts aimed at enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of digital broadcasting technologies.
