President's message

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Hong Kong Society of Breast Surgeons’ Annual Scientific Meeting 2025! Founded in 2012 under the leadership of our esteemed President, Dr. Polly Cheung, the Hong Kong Society of Breast Surgeons is dedicated to promoting and advancing knowledge in breast surgical care. This year's program is centred around the theme “Innovation and Quality Care.” As we witness continuous advancements in breast cancer management, it is essential to equip ourselves with the latest knowledge and skills to provide the highest standard of care for our patients. We are honoured to have Dr. Ines Buccimazza, President of Breast Surgery International, deliver the keynote lecture. As a prominent leader in the field, her insights will undoubtedly enrich our understanding and enhance our daily practice. We are also privileged to be joined by Prof. Rina Hui, Prof. Gary Tse, Dr. Ho Chiu Ming, and Dr. Macy Tong. As leading experts, they bring a wealth of experience from which I am confident we will greatly benefit. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Prof. Liao, and myself (Dr Sharon Chan), to share our experience in robotic breast surgery during the lunch symposium. This session will not only shed light on cutting-edge surgical techniques, but also provide an excellent opportunity for networking and forming new collaborations. In addition, we have received outstanding free paper submissions from various hospitals, all competing for the prestigious Young Investigator Award. I would like to extend my congratulations to all participants for their remarkable contributions to the advancement of breast surgery care. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the council members of the HKSBS for their unwavering support and dedication. A special thanks goes to the organizing committee for their exceptional efforts in planning this event and ensuring its success. Lastly, we extend our sincere appreciation to all the sponsors for their generous support. As we embark on this journey of knowledge exchange and professional growth, I encourage you to actively engage in the discussions, connect with fellow attendees, and embrace the energy and spirit of collaboration that define this meeting. May the 9th Annual Scientific Meeting of the HKSBS serve as a catalyst for further innovations in breast surgery care, ultimately benefiting our patients and survivors. Dr Sharon WW Chan President, Hong Kong Society of Breast Surgeons It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to the 9th Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) of the Hong Kong Society of Breast Surgeons. With the rapid advances in breast cancer treatment, we as breast surgeons, must excel in both oncoplastic surgical skills as well as knowledge in surgical oncology. The ASM is the highlight of all the activities of HKSBS, that provides a platform for the exchange of experience among local doctors and learning new knowledge from overseas speakers. I must congratulate our President Dr. Sharon Chan, who has made tireless efforts in organizing the ASM. We look forward to enjoying the rich content of the program.
