An Innovative Rural Heating System Utilizing Coupled Cascade Thermal Storage: A Performance Analysis

ABSTRACT This study presents a new rural heating system based on cascaded heat storage and air‐source heat pumps. Through a comparative analysis using the TRNSYS software between this system and the traditional solar‐assisted air‐source heat pump system, it was found that compared with the latter, the new system saves more energy, especially in the period from May to September. This is attributed to the effective utilization of heat storage. Under the same water consumption by users, the performance coefficient (COP) of this system is higher in the months of April to July and September. In August, due to the performance of this system, the performance of this mode is also higher. The results proposed in this paper provide an effective and feasible method for addressing the increasing heating demand in rural areas.
