AI weapon detection: What campus safety officers need to know

Campus safety officers face an evolving landscape of threats, and one of the most pressing concerns is the presence of weapons on school grounds. In the wake of yet another devastating campus shooting, like the one that occurred at Brown University on Dec. 13, 2025, searching for ways to harness technology to prevent deadly attacks is on the minds of many.
