Learning that Stays: Defining Meaningful Learning for Immersive Experience Design
Immersive technologies have expanded the possibilities for educational design, yet there is limited consensus on how meaningful learning should be defined and evaluated in these contexts. To address this gap, a survey was conducted to examine how students understand the characteristics of meaningful learning experiences and their interest in immersive technology as a vehicle for learning. The survey explored both traditional learning theories and methods with participants being given the opportunity to discuss personal experiences. The findings showed that while traditional theories were upheld, many students found that personal growth and the ability to expand their world view contributed highly to a meaningful learning experience.
