Silent Arthurian Cinema

Abstract: Pioneering silent-filmmakers Thomas Edison, D.W. Griffith, Cecil B. DeMille, and others turned at times to the Arthurian legends for their subjects. Using either medieval or modern settings, they reinterpreted such stories as the Grail, Tristan, and the Lady of Shalott, sometimes introducing comedy, social commentary, or edifying morals (BTL).
