A hypergraph Heilmann–Lieb theorem
The Heilmann–Lieb theorem is a fundamental theorem in algebraic combinatorics which provides a characterization of the distribution of the zeros of matching polynomials of graphs. In this paper, we establish a hypergraph Heilmann–Lieb theorem as follows. Let <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> H \mathcal {H} </inline-formula> be a connected <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> k k </inline-formula> -graph with maximum degree <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> Δ ≥ 2 {\Delta }\geq 2 </inline-formula> and let <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> μ ( H , x ) \mu (\mathcal {H}, x) </inline-formula> be its matching polynomial. We show that the zeros (with multiplicities) of <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> μ ( H , x ) \mu (\mathcal {H}, x) </inline-formula> are invariant under a rotation of an angle <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> 2 π / ℓ 2\pi /{\ell } </inline-formula> in the complex plane for some positive integer <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> ℓ \ell </inline-formula> and <inline-formula content-type="math/mathml"> k k </inline-formula> is the maximum integer with this property.
