This article reviews the causes of AD, particularly the epigenetic changes associated with AD, including DNA methylation, histone modifications, and noncoding RNA changes. The development of diagnostic reagents based on biomarkers specific to epigenetic changes and attempts to intervene in adverse epigenetic factor changes in AD for the treatment of AD are discussed. This review contributes to a better understanding of the relationship between epigenetics and AD and provides guidance for exploring diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. Keywords: Alzheimer’s disease, epigenetics, DNA methylation, histone modification, noncoding RNA
