TITLE SUSTAINABILITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION: A CRITICAL EXAMINATION OF LATIN AMERICAN INSTITUTIONS AND THE 2030 AGENDA
Despite the global importance of the 2030 Agenda, Latin America shows limited commitment to its implementation. This study analyzes the relationship between regional progress toward the 2030 Agenda and the involvement of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings (THE-IR). Using a quantitative approach, findings reveal a low commitment from Latin American HEIs to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlight structural and policy constraints. Participation is uneven, with few countries regularly represented in global indices. The study calls for strategic policies to strengthen HEIs’ role as catalysts for sustainable development in the region.
