Complete Genome Sequence of Porphyromonas gingivalis KCOM 2798 Isolated from Human Dental Plaque of a Chronic Periodontitis Patient
Porphyromonas gingivalis is a keystone pathogen associated with chronic periodontitis and related systemic conditions. We report the complete genome sequence of strain KCOM 2798, isolated from dental plaque of a Korean patient with periodontitis. The genome consists of a single circular chromosome of 2,410,673 bp with 48.5% GC content, encoding 2,177 genes, including 1,986 protein-coding sequences, 53 tRNAs, 12 rRNAs, 2 ncRNAs, and 124 pseudogenes.Genes for gingipains, fimbriae, hemagglutinins, adhesins, and antibiotic resistance were identified. This genome information may provide a useful basis for future comparative and functional studies of P. gingivalis pathogenicity.
