PROMOTING GENDER EQUITY IN INFORMATION SCIENCE: INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
The GEDIS project addresses gender disparities in Library and Information Science (LIS) education by embedding gender perspectives into curricula and professional practices. Grounded in feminist pedagogy and intersectionality, the initiative fosters inclusivity and empowers educators, librarians, and students as change agents. Employing a mixed-methods approach, GEDIS conducts curriculum analysis, focus groups, and participatory projects. Preliminary findings reveal gaps in gender integration and the need for training and resources. GEDIS develops tools and frameworks to overcome these barriers, promoting systemic change and offering a replicable model for higher education.
