A discrete probability distribution applied to measuring lexical text compactness

Abstract We propose a new index of lexical text compactness which takes into account length of links between sentences. The index is based on a new discrete probability distribution which is presented in this paper. Its basic properties (mean, variance, parameter estimation) are presented. For its special case also a closed formula for its probability generating function can be derived. We present an example where the new index is applied to a short text.
