Assessing the level of physical and functional preparedness of candidates for police officers

The purpose of the study analyze the existing system of training law enforcement officers and consider the feasibility of using special game exercises in the educational process. To achieve this goal, we conducted a study on the subject of work stress. The questionnaire included the following characteristics: degree of responsibility in work; need to make responsible decisions; degree of workload; overtime work; irregular workload; time deficit; work organization; presence of stressful situations; duration of stressful influences; deficit of motor activity. Also, testing was conducted on the physical fitness of candidates for tax police units. The experiment involved 164 male candidates aged 20 to 25 years, whose level of physical fitness was determined by tests (100m run, 1000m and pull-ups on the horizontal bar), and according to the developed methodology of Baevsky, the functional state was determined, which characterized the adaptive potential of each candidate. The functional state indicator was taken in order to check the health reserve for the adaptive processes of the organism in professional activity. The obtined results showed that the successful activities of law enforcement officers in the performance of their professional duties and personal safety depend on the level of their physical, psychological preparedness and the ability to use hand-to-hand combat techniques.
