EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE WALL OF A ROLLED I-beam UNDER LOCAL LOAD

The article presents the results of an experimental study of the stress-strain state in the wall of a steel I-beam when a concentrated (local) load is applied to the wall through its flange. Such conditions are realized, for example, in the wall of the lower (main) beam when another beam (secondary) is supported on it floor by floor, when the wall at the point of support is not supported by a vertical stiffener. Four model options for applying a local load are considered, differing in shape, size and orientation of the contact surface of the experimental I-beam flange and the parts transmitting the load to the sample from the hydraulic press pad. In the considered options, the wall is loaded with a point, linear (perpendicular and in the plane of the I-beam wall) load, as well as a load distributed over a rectangular section of limited dimensions. The parts transmitting the load are, respectively, in the shape of a ball, cylinders, or rectangular plate. The article provides information on the parameters of the stress-strain state of the wall at characteristic points of the wall in the vicinity of the application of a concentrated load. The information is presented in the form of graphs, diagrams and diagrams of local stresses, as well as in tabular form. An analysis of the obtained results of the experimental study was carried out, a comparison of experimental and calculated data was carried out, and on this basis some regularities were established about the kinetics of local stresses in a limited area of the wall for the adopted four options for applying a concentrated load.
