Contemporary concepts of the rational use of centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants in the treatment of vertebrogenic dorsalgia
Centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxants (CMs) in combination with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and vitamins B are among the most frequently prescribed medications for the treatment of dorsalgia. Despite belonging to the same clinical and pharmacological group, CMs differ from each other in both their mechanism of action and the range of adverse effects. The emergence of new CMs in clinical practice demonstrates the growing innovation of this class of pharmacological agents in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain, necessitating a detailed study of the competitive advantages of individual CMs to improve treatment efficacy and safety.
