A systematic mapping study on data-driven methods within the digital healthcare engineering framework for composite FRP repairs of offshore pipelines
This study advances understanding of data-driven approaches for repairing ageing offshore pipelines using composite fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) systems, framed within the Digital Healthcare Engineering (DHE) paradigm encompassing lifecycle, real-time, intelligent, and integrated management. A bibliometric analysis of 191 SCOPUS-indexed publications was conducted following systematic screening. Publication trends, contributing countries, keyword co-occurrence, and thematic structures were examined using VOSViewer. China and the United States were identified as leading contributors, while four dominant thematic clusters emerged: computational and material modelling, engineering system management, material behaviour and thermal performance, and inspection and integrity assessment. A descriptive synthesis of these clusters revealed distinct methodological emphases and evolving research synergies in composite-based offshore applications. Future research should focus on integrating artificial intelligence-enhanced predictive and diagnostic models to support real-time decision-making, adaptive maintenance, optimized inspection regimes, improved repair accuracy, and cost-effective strategies, thereby enhancing safety, sustainability, and structural resilience of offshore pipeline systems.
