Samuel Beckett and his Transdisciplinary and Creative Process
Abstract: In Transdisciplinary Beckett , Lucy Jeffery argues for an understanding of Samuel Beckett that challenges discipline-specific analysis. Her aim is to achieve a more complete perspective of him as an artist who constantly reworks language and its failings according to his exploration in different media and the visual and musical inspirations that influence his creative process. Notable is the exclusion of Film as a primary object of study and the reluctance of Lucy Jeffery, like other Beckett scholars, to fully consider Beckett’s surrealist tendencies. Transdisciplinary Beckett provides close readings from unique viewpoints of the individual Beckettian works it studies while also speaking to the larger creative dialogue in which they participate.
