O estado da arte do desenvolvimento urbano baseado no conhecimento

This study aims to investigate and analyze the state of the art of Knowledge-Based Urban Development (KBUD), exploring its theoretical foundations, emerging trends, and unexplored research gaps. The methodology included a systematic literature review and an analysis of conceptual frameworks. Article selection involved searching academic databases and using the snowballing technique, followed by a filtering process to determine the final set of publications for review. The results highlight advances in the application of KBUD, particularly in the transition from a narrow focus on innovation to a broader approach that incorporates economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, socio-spatial development, and good governance in knowledge cities. However, literature exhibits a high concentration of publications within specific academic networks, which may limit the theoretical and methodological diversity of the field. Moreover, there is a need for a clearer systematization of the guidelines present in these frameworks, which hinders the assessment of KBUD in different urban contexts, especially in cities outside major global centers. This study was essential for understanding KBUD dynamics and establishing a set of guidelines to monitor its implementation, contributing to the development and execution of projects and policies that promote innovation and sustainability in diverse urban settings.
