TASTE and AADL in the METASAT Model-Based Engineering Workflow

The increasing complexity of satellite systems, in conjunction with the need for compliance with ECSS standards, demands innovative design methodologies. The METASAT project introduces a model-based engineering workflow that integrates open-architecture hardware and advanced software virtualisation layers. This paper presents how modelling technologies like TASTE and AADL are employed within the METASAT toolchain to enable efficient development of satellite software components. We detail the integration of these tools within the METASAT workflow, highlighting their role in system architecture design, validation, and code generation. The approach demonstrates how model-based engineering techniques can significantly reduce development costs and timelines while improving system performance and dependability for future satellite missions.
