Timekeeper Under an Adlerian Compass: Navigating Identity, Memory, and Meaning in a Multiverse of Theory and Practice
Abstract: This article explores the evolution of the author’s professional identity as an Adlerian psychotherapist, shaped by his migration from Romania to Switzerland and the interplay of various theoretical and practical influences. Reflecting on his journey, the author discusses the irony of his professional growth and the ways that theoretical adaptation and persistence have enabled him to maintain an Adlerian perspective in a diverse clinical landscape. His experiences navigating at the confluence of Adlerian psychotherapy, systemic psychotherapy, psychiatry, and psychogeriatrics have deepened his understanding of a professional identity shaped under the pressure of that multiverse of theories and practices. Ultimately, his personal and professional challenges have brought insights into the intricate interrelationship of memory, subjective time, cognitive disorders, and the psychotherapeutic process.
