08 01 Base Architecture Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma ESCC
Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) arises from chronic insults—gastroesophageal reflux, alcohol, tobacco—creating a biochemically hostile microenvironment characterized by lowpH (3.5-5.0), elevated reactive oxygen species (ROS), and continuous epithelial stress[1, 2].Unlike adenocarcinomas or hepatocellular carcinomas, ESCC exhibits compensatory hyperkeratinization (Kρ = 0.7) and moderate metabolic plasticity (Metabolic Survival Index MSSI =0.58), positioning it as an ”intermediate-aggressive” malignancy with high clonal resilience (CR= 0.75) driven by stromal protection rather than maximal proliferative capacity[3].
