Diffusion‐Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Glandular Odontogenic Cyst: Report of Two Cases
ABSTRACT The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values with diffusion‐weighted MRI (DWI) can be used to differentiate and characterize benign and malignant head and neck lesions. We described two cases of glandular odontogenic cyst with DWI: Case 1: glandular odontogenic cyst of the left side of the maxilla in a 73‐year‐old male; Case 2: glandular odontogenic cyst of the left side of the mandible in a 57‐year‐old female. The two cases of glandular odontogenic cysts were defined as a well‐defined unilocular lesion on panoramic radiography, and T1‐weighted image, T2‐weighted image, and DWI of the lesions showed high‐, high‐, and high‐signal intensity area than surrounding muscle, respectively. The ADC values of Case 1 and Case 2 were 1.61 × 10 −3 and 2.40 × 10 −3 mm 2 s −1 , respectively. The ADC values with DWI can be an effective technique for the quantitative evaluation of the glandular odontogenic cyst.
