Considering thermal effects on hot-rolling texture in aluminum alloys using self-consistent model
Hot rolling textures of aluminum alloys act as the initial texture for the subsequent cold rolling and annealing textures, which have an influence on anisotropic mechanical properties. Although simulation studies have predicted hot rolling textures by applying the activation of non-octahedral slips, the activated slips do not take the temperature dependence of critical resolved shear stress (CRSS) onto account. The purpose of this work is therefore to model the hot-rolling texture evolution by integrating the temperature-dependent parameters with a viscoplastic self-consistent polycrystal algorithm. First, the temperature-dependent functions of CRSS were calculated for slips on {111}, {011}, and {001} by fitting the experimental data from the literature. Second, the temperature dependence equations of the strain-rate sensitive exponent were determined from the experimental results from the literature. The current study presents a comprehensive investigation of thermal effects on the hot-rolling texture, and simulated hot-rolling textures at different temperatures are compared with experimental results from the literature.
