MHD Free Convective Flow Past an Oscillating Semi‐Infinite Vertical Porous Plate Embedded in a Porous Medium in the Presence of Heat Sink and Chemical Reaction
ABSTRACT The problem of a transient magnetohydrodynamic free convective fluid that is incompressible, electrically conducting, viscous, chemically reacting, thermally, and solutally convective fluid flow past an oscillating porous vertical plate embedded in a porous medium in the presence of a heat sink and chemical reaction has been precisely solved. A uniform transverse magnetic field of strength is applied to the flow, and it is directed into the fluid region. The Laplace transform method in its closed form is used to solve the resultant linear nondimensional governing equations. Figures and tables are used to illustrate how various factors affect flow and transport characteristics. When the magnetic field is applied transversely to the flow, it creates the Lorentz force, a resistive force that lowers the fluid's velocity. Therefore, a decline in fluid velocity is the outcome of a greater magnetic value. One of the notable findings of this study is that with the escalation of the oscillatory parameter, the rate of heat transmission lowers. The fluid concentration increases with the increment of thermal diffusion but falls with the increment of the chemical reaction parameter. The temperature field decreases as the Prandtl number rises. Another remarkable result of this work is that the increase in thermal diffusion increases the rate of mass transfer, while, after some time, the former exhibits a reverse behavior, decreasing the mass transfer rate with its increase.
