SLIDING DOORS: A YouTube Series on Research, Innovation, and Integrity (VOL. 2)
I am a whistleblower. My academic career led me to witness and report misconduct, and this web series, Sliding Doors , emerges directly from that experience. In March 2025, I exposed two cases of maladministration and power abuse by public organizations in Europe on my blog, pointsofdiscontinuityblog.org. This channel is dedicated to exploring the intersection of innovation, research, culture, and mental health, with the goal of fostering a healthier, more transparent research environment. Through a series of episodes, we delve into critical questions about the state of academia and its impact on society. We tackle topics such as the abuse of power in research, the relevance of academic work to contemporary challenges, the decline of breakthrough innovation we are experiencing, and the need for accountability in institutional settings to reach sustainable goals. We also examine the pursuit of sound science and the mental health struggles faced by many in the field. Our goal is to open up a frank conversation and provide insights for navigating these complex challenges. If you're curious about the forces shaping research today and want to explore how we can create a more ethical and sustainable academic ecosystem, please visit the channel and subscribe to make sure you’re always informed about new contents.
