Reflective form-birefringent grating with high efficiency
We present what we believe to be a new implementation of form-birefringent gratings. Instead of employing them in transmission, as is commonly done, we propose a design operating in reflection. To this end, the form-birefringent grating is arranged on top of a highly reflective mirror, which ensures a high reflectivity (diffraction efficiency of the 0 th order) while the grating introduces the polarization-dependent phase difference. After introducing the underlying idea, the paper presents the design process, a simulative example, and a simulative tolerance analysis.
