Impact of pathogenicity Islands concentration among Escherichia coli Strains induce some physiological alterations in male mice
This study was carried out to illustrate the physiological pathogenic Escherichia coli, which have genes containing pathogenicity islands (PAIs) with two different concentrations on hepatic and renal functions. E. coli strains were isolated from nosocomial pathogens isolated from Mansoura University Hospitals over one year. Mice divided into 4 groups (n=10) after one week of acclimation, the first group A served as the control, the second group B was inoculated with 6 ˟109 CFU/g of E.coli only, the third group C was given E.coli with PAI less than 4 and the fourth group D was given E.coli with PAIs more than 4. liver function markers, significant increases of serum in the group C and D given E. coli and PAIs dose in comparison to group A (control group) and group B given E. coli only. The better higher functions are more in group D, indicating that PAIs have virulence genes. The renal function tests, significant increases in creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, and uric acid concentration in groups given E. coli with PAIs , as well as the control group. significant decrease of (HB) concentration in the group given E. coli with PAIs. Regarding antioxidants and oxidative stress markers, showed significant decrease in (GSH) content and activities of (SOD) and (CAT) in mice liver and kidney tissues in group 3 and 4 , while non significant changes in (MDA) content. In conclusion, the PAIs caused by E. coli lead to disturbance in liver and kidney functions, as well as antioxidants.
