Annex I (Updated version 2026-01-11): Mandibular continuity and morphological reorganization in the genus Homo

This updated version of Annex I is written in light of new fossil evidence published in Nature (Hublin et al., 2025), which significantly reinforces patterns of mandibular continuity previously documented within the TBTA framework. The update does not modify the structure of the model, but completes a proposed morphological gradient through the incorporation of new empirical data from Thomas Quarry I (Casablanca).

Abstract

This updated version of Annex I is written in light of new fossil evidence published in Nature (Hublin et al., 2025), which significantly reinforces patterns of mandibular continuity previously documented within the TBTA framework. The update does not modify the structure of the model, but completes a proposed morphological gradient through the incorporation of new empirical data from Thomas Quarry I (Casablanca).
