Strategic Positioning for Ireland in a Post-Atlantic Security Order: Navigating the Dissolution of Traditional Alliances
The accelerating fragmentation of the post-1945 international security architecture presents Ireland with both existential risks and unprecedented strategic opportunities. Current indicators suggest NATO's cohesion faces severe stress from internal contradictions, while emerging multipolarity creates demand for genuinely neutral intermediaries. This paper examines probable dissolution scenarios for current alliance structures and proposes a framework for Irish strategic positioning that leverages historical neutrality, geographic advantage, and existing economic infrastructure to ensure national prosperity and security in a fundamentally transformed global order.
