AAG 2025 Panel Session ScienceCore Heuristics for Open science Outcomes in Learning (SCHOOL): Climate and Agriculture Module Development
The Science Core Heuristics for Open Science Outcomes in Learning (SCHOOL) project is funded by the NASA Transform to Open Science (TOPS) mission. SCHOOL embraces the guiding practices and principles of Open Science, such as making scientific research products and processes available to all while representing diverse cultures, maintaining security and privacy, and fostering collaborations, reproducibility, and equity. The Climate and Agriculture modules will be designed to teach learners about the data science life cycle in the context of the NASA Earth Science Applications. Each SCHOOL module will provide instruction on how to use open access data for analysis with an Open Science model. Each module will consist of lessons which make up the data science life cycle: data generation and collection; data processing and storage; data management and analysis; data visualization and interpretation; and open science and community engagement. The curriculum is designed for learners at or above the undergraduate level, including professional science teams. This session's objective is to hear from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the areas of Climate and Agriculture in order to inform the development of SCHOOL use cases, which will be considered for the online learning modules. The session will be a hybrid, open meeting with translation to Spanish via Zoom. Link to session - https://aag.secure-platform.com/aag2025/solicitations/82/sessiongallery/23009
