The use of biopropane in households

The article presents the structure of liquid gas consumption in Poland. The technologies of biopropane gas production were characterized. Particular attention was paid to the need to take steps to phase out the use of fossil fuels. The construction and operation principle of the liquid gas tank are presented. The main issue of the paper involved the analysis of the operation of a liquefied petroleum gas tank fueled by biopropane in a year-round cycle. To this end, mathematical equations and computational formulas were proposed to determine the parameters of thermodynamic transformations involving biopropane gas in a storage tank. As part of the analysis, a tank was selected to supply a single-family building equipped with a gas cooker and instantaneous water heater. The results of numerical studies have made it possible to formulate a number of interesting conclusions. The highest gas fuel intake capacity (66 kg/h) was recorded at the highest outdoor air temperatures (+25°C) and at high tank fill rates (85 %). The variation of the mass flow of liquefied petroleum gas in the tank (kg/h) depending on the gas consumption of the gas appliances (m 3 /h) is shown. In addition, such a solution meets the provisions of EU regulations on the energy performance of buildings. It will thus make it possible to abandon the use of fossil fuels while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
