COMPARISION BETWEEN MONTHLY AND 3-MONTHLY GOSERELIN ACETATE ON OVARIAN FUNCTION SUPPRESSION IN HORMONAL POSITIVE BREAST CANCER PATIENTS
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women worldwide, with incidence and outcomes influenced by age, hormonal status, genetics, and lifestyle factors. The human breast comprises epithelial lobules and ducts supported by stromal tissue, with development regulated by estrogen, progesterone, and growth factors across life stages, including puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. High proliferative activity and hormone receptor expression in undifferentiated lobules contribute to cancer susceptibility, particularly in nulliparous women. Breast cancer is molecularly heterogeneous, encompassing Luminal A, Luminal B, HER2-positive, and triple-negative subtypes, each with distinct prognoses and therapeutic implications. In premenopausal hormone receptor-positive patients, adjuvant endocrine therapy-including tamoxifen and ovarian function suppression via LHRH agonists-improves disease-free and overall survival, as demonstrated by pivotal trials such as SOFT, TEXT, ABCSG-12, and ASTRRA. Understanding breast biology and molecular subtypes is crucial for guiding personalized treatment and optimizing patient outcomes.AIM OF THE WORK:To compare efficacy, safety, and ovarian suppression of two goserelin dosing regimens in premenopausal ER-positive breast cancer patients and assess their impact on disease-free survival.
