Highly Active Electrocatalytic Alcohol Oxidation Coupled Hydrogen Production with Unsaturated Ni‐O(OH) Coordination (Adv. Energy Mater. 1/2026)
Electrocatalytic Alcohol Oxidation Core-shell architecture of unsaturated Ni-O(OH) species confined in conductive carbon matrices enables dual-functionality: surface Ni-O(OH) coordination disrupts hydrogen-bond networks to accelerate HER kinetics, while surface-adsorbed oxygen species (Ni-Oads) mediates ethanol oxidation without over-oxidation. This synergistic design achieves ampere-level EOR/HER activity at record-low voltages, unlocking industrial-scale coproduction of high-purity hydrogen and acetic acid.
