Non-Cognitive Entrepreneurship Competent Scale for Secondary School Students: A Validity and Reliability Study

The aim of this study is to develop a measurement tool to determine the non-cognitive entrepreneurial competents of secondary school students. The study group of the research consists of 562 students studying in a public secondary school in Kars province in the 2021-2022 academic year. First of all, the literature was examined in order to determine the non-cognitive entrepreneurship competents that can be acquired by secondary school students. A draft form consisting of items covering the determined competens was created. To ensure the content validity of the prepared form, six experts were evaluated. As a result of the feedback, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and criterion-related validity studies were conducted for the construct validity of the finalized form. For exploratory factor analysis, the form was applied to 293 secondary school students and as a result of the factor analysis, it was determined that the scale consisted of 29 items and three dimensions, and it was aimed to verify the scale and dimensions with confirmatory factor analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis was applied to 266 secondary school students, then validity studies were conducted and the three-factor structures were named creativity, tolerance for uncertainty and teamwork. In order to demonstrate criterion validity, criterion-related validity was applied. On the other hand, the reliability of the scale was examined by calculating the Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient. While the Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of the overall scale was .91, it was determined that the creativity dimension was .87, the tolerance for ambiguity was .68 and the teamwork dimension coefficient was .80. As a result of the statistical analysis, it can be said that the scale measures the non-cognitive entrepreneurial competents of secondary school students validly and reliably.
