Cutting-Edge Approaches for the Artistry of Functional Fashionable Apparel
The textile and apparel industry are continually evolving due to technological advancements and innovative methodologies. Fashion designers shape trends by inspiration from diverse sources, exploring new materials, finishing techniques, functional applications, and recent technologies, while also embracing sustainability and diversity. This research is driven by the production of functional and multipurpose apparel, inspired by consumer demands and interdisciplinary approaches, balancing the of fabric finishing and apparel design. Polyester and viscose/polyamide fabrics undergo simultaneous finishing and coloration on a semi-industrial scale to evaluate ultraviolet protection, antimicrobial properties, and color strength. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the ultraviolet protection factor for all fabrics, achieving 50+ values and an excellent protection category. Additionally, the antimicrobial reduction efficiency against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and fungi was assessed, revealing a notable enhancement in reduction percentage (~95%). The findings indicated that the finishing procedures positively influenced the color strength values. Furthermore, the finished and colored fabrics were utilized to produce fifteen innovative functional and protective apparel items, employing various printing designs through contemporary fashion strategies such as zero waste, voluminous, and loose-fitting design approaches. These garments exemplify innovative attire for women with added value, functional, artistic, contemporary, and modest outfits.
