Presentation - Improved STI Screenings for Women

The design does not have to be inserted into the patient to accommodate people who are uncomfortable with invasive tests, have conditions that such as vaginismus, or have past trauma from relevant experience. This design can also be used at home, making it accessible and minimizing discomfort. The pad can also be worn for extended periods of time compared to a quick swab and, therefore, will have more contact with vaginal discharge and potentially produce more accurate results.

Additionally, this design utilizes an embedded lateral flow assay to detect STIs which are commonly used in pregnancy tests and highly accurate. This design does not sample extragenital locations, but would be very low cost and low tech.
