The Ethical Data Initiative (EDI) is evolving its stakeholder engagement by transitioning its annual Town Hall Events to a new biannual format. The EDI held its first virtual town hall event on Friday 28 November 2025 as an accessible way for its global community to connect and collaborate. The event comprised presentations by the EDI team on ongoing EDI activities in education, policy, and research, as well as updates from the EDI's new official partner organisations, the Research Data Alliance (RDA), the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS, Leiden University), Italian Research Centre on High-Performance Computing, Big Data, and Quantum Computing (Fondazione ICSC), and Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA). A highlight of the meeting was the launch of the new EDI Research Theme, entitled "Recommender systems for social good."
