Evaluating civil aircraft crew go-around performance oriented towards airworthiness verification

Executing go-around maneuvers following the type-specific procedure is a critical safety measure for flight crews to avoid hazardous states during aircraft approach and landing. Consequently, evaluating the airworthiness of go-around procedures based on crew performance has become an integral part of human factors airworthiness verification for transport category aircraft. To accurately assess the airworthiness of go-around procedures, this study proposed a multi-source data-integrated assessment method for flight crew performance, specifically for airworthiness compliance verification. Firstly, human factors airworthiness verification scenarios were established by integrating the airworthiness requirements for transport category aircraft flight procedures with the type-specific go-around procedure. Based on this scenario, the comprehensive evaluation index system for crew performance centered on workload and work quality was established along with its measurement methods. Subsequently, simulator-based go-around flight experiments were designed and conducted for a transport category aircraft (MA600). Data on crew workload, situation awareness levels, stress levels, and objective time-series eye-tracking data were collected, and their characteristics were analyzed. The CRITIC and TOPSIS models were employed to achieve a dual-dimension comprehensive evaluation for go-around performance based on crew workload and work quality, which were measured by the data. The proposed dual-dimension crew performance assessment method based on workload and work quality effectively reflects the human-machine-environment system interactions inherent in the go-around procedure. This provides a significant compliance means for the flight procedures airworthiness verification of civil aircraft.
