The Aswan Maximize Practice Retention (AMPR) Framework: A Novel Model for Enhancing Long-Term Knowledge and Practice Retention Among Cardiovascular Nurses.
Cardiovascular nurses are pivotal in the healthcare system, providing direct patient care and support across diverse settings, including hospitals and community clinics. Their ability to respond swiftly and effectively in various health situations necessitates a solid medical knowledge foundation and advanced clinical skills. However, due to the natural process of forgetting, as elucidated by the Decay Theory of Forgetting, knowledge and skills can diminish if not reinforced. Maintaining knowledge and skills over time is paramount in a profession where the stakes are life or death [7]. Nurses must remain proficient in evolving medical procedures, patient management techniques, and emerging technologies. Ensuring that nurses retain what they acquire during training is vital, as lapses in knowledge or skill can compromise patient safety and the quality of care provided. Therefore, measuring the retention of knowledge and skills in nursing is essential to identify areas that require reinforcement and to support continuous improvement in patient care .
