Temporal Inertia and the Emergence of Mass: Proper-Time Eigenmodes, Charge as Phase Orientation, and Composite Structures in Time-Scalar Field Theory

Time-Scalar Field Theory (TSFT) advances a unification program in which time is treated as a fundamental scalar field Θ(x) governing the organization of physical dynamics. This paper formalizes a central first-principles claim: mass arises as temporal inertia—the resistance of an excitation to changes in proper-time rate—while charge arises as proper-time phase orientation within the scalar-time manifold. Photons are identified as null temporal excitations that propagate without proper-time accumulation; massive particles arise when excitations accumulate proper-time phase and resist temporal rate modulation. Composite particles are modeled as phase-locked multi-mode eigenstructures stabilized by temporal coherence constraints, providing a unified interpretive substrate for hadronic mass dominance and confinement-like behavior without introducing additional ontological primitives. Gauge fields emerge as gradient-consistency structures required by local temporal phase freedom, and gravitation appears as scalar-time curvature governing proper-time accumulation. Finally, we outline falsifiable experimental signatures across precision clock networks, interferometric phase systems, neutrino timing/oscillation analyses, and astrophysical propagation datasets. The goal is to present a reviewer-facing, interoperable framework that recovers standard actions in effective limits while motivating concrete data-driven discrimination tests.
