Clinical Characteristics of Oral Pleomorphic Adenoma: A Retrospective Analysis

Introduction: Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common benign salivary gland tumor, with a predilectionfor the oral cavity. This study evaluates the clinical characteristics, surgical outcomes, and follow-up patterns inpatients with oral A.Aim of work: This study aims to contribute to the existing literature by analyzing clinical and follow-up data froma cohort of oral PA patients. By evaluating demographic trends, surgical outcomes, and adherence to postoperativemonitoring, we seek to identify gaps in current practices and emphasize the need for standardized follow-upprotocols.Patients and methods: A retrospective analysis of 11 patients diagnosed with oral PA was conducted from 2013to 2021. Data included demographics, tumor size, operative time, hospital stay, and follow-up duration. Statisticalanalysis employed descriptive measures, skewness, and kurtosis. Results: The cohort consisted of 4 males (36.4%) and seven females (63.6%), with a median age of 58 years. The median tumor size was 3.25 cm, the operative time was 60 minutes, and the hospital stay was 2 days. Followupduration ranged from 0 to 70 months (median = 0 months, IQR: 0–13), with significant right skew (2.15),suggesting inconsistent long-term monitoring. Conclusion: Oral PA predominantly affects middle-aged females, with favorable surgical outcomes. The skewedfollow-up data highlight the need for standardized postoperative surveillance to mitigate the risk of recurrence.
