Drones, Jamming, and Augmented Soldiers: Inside the Future of Mountain Warfare
This article explores the transformation of mountain warfare in the algorithmic age, where drones, jamming, and cyber operations redefine the battlefield. Tracing the legacy of Romania’s elite Mountain Hunters from their origins in World War I to their current NATO interoperability, the study examines how tradition converges with technological innovation. It analyzes the integration of UCAVs, AI-driven systems, and augmented soldiers equipped with exoskeletons and smart gear, highlighting the tension between automation and human decision-making. While silicon ridges and algorithmic command centers reshape tactics, the paper argues that courage and adaptability remain irreplaceable, positioning mountain hunters as a symbolic and strategic force in future hybrid warfare.
