Research and Optimization of Secondary Filter Mesh Breakage

To identify the root cause of the fracture in the secondary filter mesh encountered during practical operations, a comprehensive investigation was conducted. This included an analysis of mesh size, material properties, material testing, fracture analysis, and stress calculations. The study examined alternating stress cycles, vortex frequency, and fretting wear of the mesh in detail. The results indicated that the mesh fracture was primarily due to fatigue. The underlying issue was identified as the vortex street disturbances caused by fluid flow around the mesh, which led to slight movements between the mesh and the warehouse partition. This interaction ultimately resulted in high-cycle, low-stress, and fretting fatigue fractures. To enhance the reliability of the mesh, several optimization measures were proposed: increasing the stiffener at the large end of the mesh, appropriately increasing the mesh thickness, rationally arranging the spacing of holes and bridges, and optimizing the manufacturing process. By implementing these measures, the problem of secondary filter mesh breakage can be effectively addressed, thereby improving the operational reliability of secondary filter equipment.
